Sue Catchings is a native resident of Nashville, TN. In 2015, she moved to White Bluff, TN to Birdsong Hill where she loves to paint, teach and be near the beautiful countryside. Her love of art began at an early age and has followed her through many seasons of life. As a lifelong student, her goals are to learn more every day and to pass that knowledge to others. She works primarily in oils in a realistic impressionistic style. Beginning as a child alongside an aunt, her desire to learn and grow has continued. Even though she graduated from David Lipscomb University with a degree in English, she had more fun attending art classes and had enough hours to earn a second degree in art. During this time, she also attended Watkins Institute and studied under Anton Weiss. Other influential teachers have been Dawn Whitelaw, Michael Shane Neal, and Morgan Samuel Price, among many others. She is an associate member of Oil Painters of America and The Chestnut Group, Plein Air Painters for the Land.
