Martin Peerson began painting as a hobby in 1983, while working for the University of Arkansas in agricultural research. His art education began by taking private classes, and classes at what was then Westark Community College. Martin continues to learn from books, and workshops led by established artists.
After 28 years in the horticulture industry Martin began painting full time in 2005. He is represented by the Dodson Gallery in Oklahoma City. Peerson has had a number of shows at the Ft. Smith Art Center, Crawford County Art Center, Northwest Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
Peerson works primarily in oil, painting landscapes of Oklahoma and Arkansas, as well as New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. He also enjoys painting still life and portrait.
